BodyGem And MedGem Analyzer Report Numbers

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) accounts for 65-75% of the calories that a person burns eat day, depending on their lifestyle.

The BodyGem and MedGem Analyzer software helps estimate the number of calories your client burns based on their lifestyle.

You enter the RMR# and then complete the measurement page with lifestyle questions about age, height, weight, hours worked, hours sleeping, etc.; which estimates the calories spent per day from their lifestyle.

It will give you a Calorie Expenditure#, which is their RMR + lifestyle. If your client eats the Calorie Expenditure# every day, then they would tend to stay the same weight.

If you set a 1 pound per week weight loss goal, the program subtracts 500 calories per day from their Calorie Budget.

If their Calorie Expenditure# is 1,985 calories, then their Calorie Budget# would be 1,485 calories.

Since they’re eating 1,485 calories each day, but are expending 1,985 calories; they should lose weight at a rate of about 1 pound per week.

The Calorie Expenditure# does not include exercise calories burned.  Your client can just eat their Calorie Budget and make faster progress in weight loss; or they can adjust their Calorie Budget up for the day, adding in the estimated calories burned during exercise, and they will stay on track to lose 1 pound per week.

The Microlife BodyGem and MedGem indirect calorimeters measure Resting Metabolic Rate, to help your clients reach their weight loss goals.

Instead of estimating RMR with the Harris-Benedict or Katch-McArdle formula, the BodyGem and MedGem scientifically measure a clients Metabolic Fingerprint, that is unique to them.

Estimation formulas cannot factor in thyroid issues, the effects of medications, etc.

For the best care, the American Dietetics Association recommends using indirect calorimetry to measure RMR for the most accurate assessment of nutritional needs.

Health & Fitness Network is an authorized distributor of the BodyGem© and MedGem© RMR devices by Microlife Medical Home Solutions.

The BodyGem and MedGem have the same functionality, accuracy and reliability. The difference is that the MedGem has gone through the FDA-approval process, to allow licensed clinicians to make insurance claims on their measurements.

These indirect calorimeters measure your clients Resting Metabolic Rate in 5-10 minutes, to provide them with a scientifically based Daily Calorie Budget, to help them reach their weight goals.
